Culture & Leadership Development

Behind every “we need to do something about leadership” sits a real business or organisational challenge.

An acquisition. A shift from family-owned to equity-owned. Disappointing results. Rapid growth. Or simply a world that refuses to stand still.

At LQ, we help leaders develop culture and leadership in the context where they matter most: the business reality they need to move.

When organisations come to us

Is the rational work – like strategy and management infrastructure – done, but does your organisation still seem stuck?

Chances are you need to turn your attention to the emotional side: culture and leadership development.

You may recognise this:

  • The strategy is clear, but leaders still tell a different story.
  • Values have been defined, but they do not show up in meetings, decisions or difficult conversations.
  • A middle manager wants to support the transformation, but spends most of the week solving operational issues.
  • Two companies are legally merged into one, but people still talk about “our way” and “their way”.
  • Leaders ask for ownership, but mandates and expectations are unclear.
  • Multiple changes are happening at the same time, overlapping and interacting, leading to change fatigue among your people.

These are the moments where culture and leadership stop being soft topics and start hitting the results. In the speed of decisions, the quality of collaboration and the results people deliver.

“Culture is the hard part of your organisation. It’s the hardest to change, and one of the biggest levers for success. Do not call it soft, or fluffy.”

Culture & Leadership Development

Through the lens of the Six Batteries of Change

Why are culture and leadership vital for your results?

This is exactly what the Six Batteries of Change help make visible.

Rooted in academic research across 111 organisations, the model defines six critical areas that determine whether an organisation is ready for change.

At its core, it distinguishes between two sides: the rational and emotional batteries.

Most organisations invest heavily in the rational side. They define the strategy, design the structure and build the plan.

But strategy only starts to move when the emotional side is charged too.

Ambitious top team: Is your top team leading as one? Are they a real team when pressure rises? Do they hold each other accountable? Do they role model the change? Do they create an ambition people can believe in, not just understand? And are they really into it themselves?

Healthy culture: Do you have a clear understanding of what behaviour you want to see? What gets rewarded, repeated or tolerated? If the strategy asks for more ownership, collaboration or experimentation, does the culture make that easier, or does it quietly pull people back to the old way of working?

Connection with employees: Do people understand what the change means for them? Do leaders create enough trust, clarity and security for people to commit and communicate? Is resistance being worked with, or only labelled as a problem?

Culture & Leadership Development

“Let’s organise another offsite…”

It is a familiar reflex in culture and leadership journeys: treating them in splendid isolation.

An offsite, a feedback training, a leadership manifesto, or a meaningful conversation around the campfire.

And yes, those moments matter. They create connection, trust and reflection.

But on their own, they are not always enough.

At LQ, we develop culture and leadership within your organisational context. Always connected to the challenge at hand and the development the organisation needs at that point in time.

How we help

There is no standard recipe.

Every organisation has its own context, history, pressure and pace.

Still, there are three things we often help leaders do.

1
1. Start with the real challenge

We do not start with the leadership challenge in isolation. We connect the organisational or business context with leadership.

We start with the challenge.

Are you trying to integrate two organisations? Translate a new strategy? Scale without losing your DNA? Create more ownership? Restore trust? Strengthen execution?

We ground the leadership work we do together in your daily reality.

Culture and leadership are not the goal in themselves. They are levers that help the organisation move.

2
2. Make the invisible visible

Culture can feel hard to grasp.

Until you make it visible and measurable.

Through the Six Batteries scan, interviews, leadership sessions or a deeper culture scan such as Barrett, we look at what culture means in your organisation.

Which values are alive in the organisation today? Which values do people want to see more of? Where does the system still reward behaviours that are no longer serving your ambitions?

From there, the work becomes practical.

Together, we translate these values into ways of working, behavioural examples, clear agreements and non-negotiables.

3
3. Work with leadership at the right levels

Leadership development only pays off when it touches the system around the leader.

That is why we work at three levels.

At individual level, leaders build awareness of their own impact.

At team level, leaders strengthen how they lead the team they are responsible for.

At collective level, the broader leadership group develops a shared language and rhythm for leading change.

These levels reinforce each other. And together, they impact the movement an organisation needs to make.

What does that look like in practice?

What organisations gain

When culture and leadership are connected to the real strategic and day-to-day challenges, leaders create more than engagement.

They create movement.

You gain:

  • A top team that acts as one and sets an inspiring vision for the organisation.
  • A culture that is translated into visible behaviour.
  • Middle management that knows how to carry the strategy forward.
  • Sharper conversations about ownership, trust and accountability.
  • More confidence that transformations can actually land.

The effects are measurable: when entropy goes down, results go up.

Because in the end, culture and leadership development are not about a manifesto on the wall.

They are about leaders who create direction, behaviours that stick, and organisations that actually deliver on their strategy.

“Leadership development only works when it serves the development the organisation needs.”
